Online Museum Ticketing Chatbot

Overview

An online chatbot-based ticketing system for museums. Visitors can complete payment, receive their ticket and get personalised recommendations in one place, from phone or desktop, through a multilingual chatbot that is available around the clock. Visit data is also used to predict busy periods and warn upcoming travellers.

A deployment was previously available at willowy-toffee-89c6b8.netlify.app; it has been removed due to insufficient AWS and Google Cloud credits.

What it does

• Accessible on phone and desktop; payment, ticket generation and personalised recommendations happen in a single flow.
• 24×7 multilingual chatbot support based on natural language processing.
• Records every visitor's museum selection in the database to predict which times are most crowded, and alerts upcoming travellers.
• Uses machine learning to tolerate spelling errors, and generative AI to block hateful content.
• Uses Gemini 1.5 Flash to give a welcoming description of the chosen museum and keep the conversation engaging.
• Museum data collected by web scraping official government sites.
• The ticket PDF link stays active for only one minute to prevent reuse.

How it's built

• Backend: Django (Python), with database migrations and an admin superuser
• Frontend: React (react-scripts, react-router-dom, axios for backend integration)
